A Winter’s Day in Annecy

A Winter's Day in Annecy

Annecy is an impossibly picturesque city in the Haute-Savoie department of France. Itโ€™s the sort of place tourists flock to all year round, but especially so during the summer months. Even so, the weather was kind to us when we were here on a cold, but bright winterโ€™s day at the end of 2012

Some places are just meant for wandering around, without any set path or in-depth historical account โ€“ and Annecy is one of them, which is why this post is just a selection of photos I took that day. I hope you enjoy looking at Annecy as much as I did.

This looks like a dream place to wander around, Malc. I’m certan I’d absolutely relish some time in Annecy, especially with the likes of that lovely-looking chateau to admire, as well as those very inviting-looking streets and the beautiful water scenes. And I’d never even heard of the place. Your blogs are very good for inspiration for travel destinations, both in and out of the UK. It’s great to see a good slideshow with so many views and aspects too – really gives you a feel for the place, especially with some music to guide you through. Lovely stuff. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for your kind words again Alli. Memories and inspiration are the two main reasons that I like to do these blogs. Whether anybody much bothers looking at them is another matter, but I’m always grateful when people like your good self do. Thank you!

If it makes you happy and it forms a fond record of your past adventures then it’s well worth doing. I’ve learned loads through your blogs, and I really enjoy reading them, so thanks for all you’ve taught and shown me, and here’s to much more inspiration from easymalc! ๐Ÿ™‚

There’s one other thing that makes it all worthwhile doing Alli – and that’s meeting lovely people like yourself, and others, (even if it is only virtually) who are genuinely interested about what I do.

I’m always flattered by people’s comments who have had a better education than I have, but if I can make a difference to one person’s life, then that’s good enough for me.

You do indeed, Malc. I enjoy learning from your blogs, and I’m always interested in what you’ve been doing. And it is nice to chat to like minded people, even if it is long distance. It may be a ‘virtual’ meeting (for now), but at least we’re all real people with interests in common, and that can never be a bad thing. ๐Ÿ™‚

Great memories of our visit to Annecy decades ago! That was in summer but it’s the sort of place I’m sure must look good in any season ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for your comment Sarah, which I’ve only just seen. For some reason I didn’t get any notification.

Thanks for wandering around Annecy with me AOC. Hope you enjoyed it – with a coffee to finish with, of course.

Fabulous post! Truly a beautiful place, enhanced by your smashing good pics! The best one with you in it! The song was great, loved it, sounded mostly like a soprano sax, a sound that John Coltrane also loved. Have a great day St. John’s Day. All the best,
    FBC.

Thank you Francesc. You’re far too kind, especially about that picture of moi. As you’ve probably gathered I’m not too keen on having my picture taken, but I thought I’d better prove that I’m not Banksy with a camera.

I’m also pleased that you liked the musical accompaniment. We don’t celebrate religious days here as much as you do, but I do know that it’s Midsummer’s Day today, which is not the same as the equinox which was a few days ago. So from tomorrow the nights start getting longer again. Sorry! ๐Ÿ™‚

You look great Malc, and I never supposed you to be the Banksy of the camara! Hehehe… ๐Ÿ˜, yes today is Sant Joan, here celebrated in our Catalan regions mostly, and reference the nights getting longer, not a problem, love it as a creature of the night! All the best my friend and being that today is a feast day, I will raise a toast to you!
        Salut!

I mixed up some pictures of my past life some time ago, but I realised I looked progressively worse as I got older. I was tempted to put it on my website, but in the end I thought it was going a step too far ๐Ÿ˜…

Well,, if we can’t have a toast on midsummer’s day then when can we? Salut! Francesc, and have a great evening.

Beautiful pictures. The ability to visit other countries more easily is one of the things I envy you Europeans. We visit states like that but other than Mexico or Canada, visiting another country usually requires a plane or a boat.

Here in the UK we have to do the same though Pat, but I take your point ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for your lovely comment ๐Ÿ™‚
