Porthleven - A Harbour Built for Protection
I’ve been taking a short break from blogging recently so that I can take stock of where I want to go with it – if at all. To be honest I still haven’t made my mind up, but for now I thought that I would just tread water by showing you a few photos of a weekend away, pre-lockdown, in the small Cornish fishing port of Porthleven.
The pictures I’ve included show what it can be like here on a lovely day. As you can see, our day started off well and finished even better, with a beautiful sunset and a drink (or two) in the Ship – but the weather’s not always like that in Mounts Bay.
The harbour was initially built as a safe haven for sailing ships, who so often came to grief along this coastline, and the YouTube video below (courtesy of Classic Cottages) will show you why it was needed.

YW…I go through the bother of the blog to share my photos AND to tour the world. I love looking at how other people live. As you can guess from my site I am big on seas, inland salt-less seas too.
We all blog for different reasons I suppose and your images are fabulous. I’ve enjoyed blogging from a travel perspective with a bit of history about a place and my own experiences thrown in for good measure. My photographs are not works of art, more a visual aid to what I’m writing about. As you can tell, I enjoy taking photographs as much as writing and I enjoy looking at other people’s photographs and experiences too..
The Ship Inn looks a cosy spot and your photos of the harbour in different lights are really lovely, especially that final sunset shot! I do hope you’re not considering stopping blogging, having lured me into it?! That would be a real shame after all your hard work here.
