A Devon Abbey and 'Wreck the Hoose Juice' Day

Since 2015, the second Saturday in May has become known as World Buckfast Day, a day when an active Benedictine abbey on the southern edge of Dartmoor gets remembered for reasons you might not expect.

Some of you might already know where I’m going with this, but for those of you who don’t, all will be revealed in due course. In the meantime, you might want to try and work out the connection between the abbey and “Wreck the Hoose Juice” Day for yourself, and the obvious place to start is at the abbey, which lies close to the village of Buckfastleigh in Devon.
